My heart goes out to the parents, children, families, and friends of the victims of Friday’s deadly shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain and horror they must be going through. To learn that the 20 of the 26 victims were children between the ages of 5-10 is devastating.
This is the first time I have teared up while watching CNN. My heart is completely broken. Why would someone do that to defenseless children and innocent adults?
My youngest brother is eight and this news only make me want to keep him near us always. But life won’t allow that and the only thing I can do is pray that God will protect him and keep him safe.
This shooting reminds me that life is too fragile. What we have now may be taken from us a day, an hour, a minute, or a second later – we’ll never know. What we can do is live life to the fullest, keep our loved ones close and let them know that we love them.
My prayers are with those who are hurting, including the family and relatives of the shooter. How shocking, upsetting, saddening, depressing, and embarrassing it is to know that someone you know and love is responsible for so many deaths and is a cause of despair for so many families? I don’t know how that feels and I hope I will never know.
Keep your loved ones close. And pray.
